In June when the district committed to having a community conversation about the role of police officers in our schools, as part of our efforts to create a more equitable and welcoming school district, especially for our students of color.

The BVSD Board of Education asked the District Accountability Committee (DAC) to take up the issue. Simultaneously, BVSD Superintendent Dr. Rob Anderson brought in the Colorado Education Initiative to create the Equity Council, made up of a diverse group of BVSD stakeholders to do the same.

SROs - positive impact at Manhattan Middle School & New Vista High School

by LTD, about 1 month ago
My kids have had very positive interactions with SROs at both Manhattan and NVHS over the years. The officers present as excellent role models. The only down-side is when officers are re-assigned elsewhere. The good-byes are tough. New staffing has always worked out, but of course it takes a bit of time to connect.

Yes to our wonderful SROs in BVSD schools!!!!

by SF, about 1 month ago

This is my 24th year working in the BVSD school district. I have worked in an elementary school, middle school and for the last 16 years at Centaurus High School in Lafayette. I have experienced multiple SRO's over the years. They have been wonderful human beings with the safety and wellbeing of our students and staff at the forefront of their concern. They are without question an essential part of our school community. Thank you!!
